Voici une nouvelle qui va réjouir les amateurs de BMW et les visiteurs du salon de Rétromobile. La marque centenaire dont le badge reprend une hélice de moteur d’avion est de retour à la porte de Versailles, du 6 au 10 février 2019. Il sera possible d’admirer des modèles de légende dans le hall 1de l’exposition. Ce retour est loin d’être anodin. Lors de cette manifestation, le constructeur de Munich va annoncer aux propriétaires de BMW de collection, que le réseau BMW Classic Partner va être étendu à la France. Ce service, dédié aux automobiles du passé, propose des réparations, des restaurations complètes, des pièces, mais aussi des conseils pour l’achat ou la vente de véhicules anciens.
Si vous n’avez pas la chance de posséder un modèle de collection, vous pourrez admirer des engins emblématiques du constructeur à l’hélice, voire même vous en procurer un. Les cabriolets seront notamment à l’honneur. Un exemplaire du fameux roadster Z1 (1987) avec ses portes rétractables sera proposé à la vente. On pourra aussi admirer la fameuse BMW 507 des années 1950, ainsi que la toute dernière Série 8 Cabriolet qui peut être considérée comme son héritière.
Les amateurs de machines de compétition devraient aussi trouver leur bonheur. BMW expose un modèle 320 Groupe 5 engagé dans les épreuves d’endurance dans les années 1970. Une voiture qui utilise un moteur de Formule 2, développant 300 chevaux pour une cylindrée de 2 litres. Sur le stand, on pourra aussi (re)découvrir une BMW M1 dans sa version Procar. Au début des années 80, la M1 Procar a servi de base à des épreuves monotypes en ouverture de grand prix.
BMW Motorrad saura, pour sa part, tirer profit du nouvel espace de vente pour les motos anciennes, en proposant notamment une BMW R51/3 des années 1950, ainsi qu’une BMW R 60/5 de 1969. Mais le clou du spectacle sera un engin bien moins connu. En 1957, BMW s’est tourné vers le constructeur de bateaux Werft A. Rambeck, afin de construire un bateau rapide faisant référence au roadster 507. Cet engin était motorisé par le V8 du célèbre cabriolet BMW, retravaillé pour se plier à un usage marin. Cette pièce unique, portée disparue, a refait surface il y a quelques années et a été entièrement restaurée. L’attachement du constructeur pour les véhicules historiques ne s’arrête pas là. À l’occasion du salon Rétromobile, il présente le programme du prochain concours d’élégance de la Villa d’Este qu’il organise depuis plusieurs années. Cette année, la manifestation italienne met en avant «La Symphonie des moteurs- 90 ans du concours d’Elégance de la Villa d’Este et d’automobiles BMW».
